Hotels
- All the hotels we work with have security boxes where you can deposit all important documents as: passports, visa, airplane tickets, traveler checks or money.
Mailing and calls
- To make phone calls to your country, we recommended you to buy a LADATEL phone card, it is the cheapest one and it would permit to you to call your family and say that you are OK.
- We recommend to you, if you wish to mail postal cards, to leave them at the front desk, they will be charged to mail them.
- If you are staying in downtown of Mexico city there is a Post offices (Postal Palace) in Tacuba street number,1, Col. Centro. The post office are open Monday through Friday from 8 to 17 pm, and Saturdays from 8 to 13 ho
Transportation
- If you need take a Taxi, I recommend you call an authorized taxi stand because the drivers that work for them know the city quite well and will get you where you’re going more quickly.
Museums
- Museums in Mexico City are closed on Monday. They open from 9H00 to17h00 archeological sites open evey day except Templo Mayor close on Mondays
Currency
- The Mexican currency is the PESO. There are coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 pesos. There are paper of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 pesos.
- You can buy or sell U.S. dollars or Euros without any problem at exchange houses and hotels. It also accept credit cards as Visa, MasteCard and some shops accept American Express You can also redeem traveler’s checks. In cities or small towns only accept travelers’ checks in U.S. dollars.
Tips
- Tipping is a widespread habit in Mexico though it is not compulsory. It is usual to tip 15 percent of the total at restaurants, in addition to the Tax to the Aggregated Value (IVA); while either one dollar or euro, or its equivalent in Mexican pesos, is the usual amount to tip doormen, bellboys, cleaning personnel, taxi drivers, and luggage haulers at the airport.
Electricity
- In Mexico electrical output is of 110 volts. The outlets are flat and with two pins, American type. If you need 220 volts, ask for a transformer at the reception desk of your hotel.
Opening hours
- Department stores and supermarkets are open every day 9 to 20 hours, some are open 24 hrs.
- Banks are open Monday through Friday from 9 to 16 hrs. Post offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 to 17 pm, and Saturdays from 8 to 13 ho
