The most problematic police are the highway police and the tourist police. Better not to get mixed up with any police. However, if, during your stay in Mexico, you have to come in contact with them, identify what type of police they are, since they differ from state to state. The main ones are traffic police (in Mexico City, known as "tamarindos" from their brownish, tamarind-color uniforms), auxiliary police (navy-blue uniforms), bank and industrial guards. If you are in trouble, we suggest going to your embassy before the police.
