Thefts and Lost Objects Unless you have to make an official police report ("levantar un acta") for insurance sake, it will do little good to report stolen or lost goods. If that is the case, the report should be made at the local precinct (Agencia del Ministerio Público) within 24 hours of the occurence. Lost passports and checks should be reported to the embassy and to the corresponding issuing bank.
